Wellness In Motion

“We are specialist physiotherapists who help people with complex and persistent pain move, feel and perform better with hands-on treatment and targeted rehabilitation.”

At Wellness In Motion, we are dedicated to providing hands-on, personalised physiotherapy that prioritises patient empowerment and long-term health outcomes. Our founder, Chris, has a wealth of experience in treating a wide range of conditions naturally, helping patients of all ages avoid painkillers, injections, and surgery. We believe in the importance of traditional therapies, such as dry needling and massage, to alleviate pain and support effective rehabilitation. Our approach stands in stark contrast to the more hands-off, exercise-based models prevalent in many public health services today. By combining hands-on treatments with targeted exercises, we help our patients break cycles of discomfort and maintain active, fulfilling lifestyles. At Wellness In Motion, we are committed to improving not just the lifespan but the health-span of our patients, ensuring they can enjoy life to the fullest.

What Makes Wellness In Motion Different?

At Wellness in Motion, our approach stands out amidst a landscape where many physiotherapy clinics and the NHS have shifted towards more hands-off, exercise-based treatment models. We pride ourselves on maintaining a traditional, hands-on approach to physiotherapy, which we believe is essential for effectively managing symptoms and facilitating patient rehabilitation.

Our ethos stems from the evolution we’ve witnessed within the UK physiotherapy sector over the last decade. There is a trend towards less personalised care and more group-based exercises due to funding constraints within the NHS and other public health systems. This shift contrasts sharply with our own practice philosophy, which harkens back to the era when Chris started practicing in the mid-90s, affording him greater autonomy to tailor treatments and provide as many sessions as necessary.

The core of our treatment philosophy emphasises the importance of hands-on therapies like dry needling and massage to alleviate pain and break the cycle of discomfort that impedes exercise progress. What’s more, our goal isn’t to foster dependence on these treatments but rather to use them strategically to enable patients to engage more effectively in their rehabilitation exercises.

Central to their patient education is dispelling the notion that persistent pain is solely psychological or imaginary, as some patients may unfortunately be led to believe within certain healthcare settings. They emphasise the complex nature of pain perception, attributing it to intricate interactions within the brain and nervous system, which can become entrenched over time. Their therapeutic strategy involves rewiring these neural pathways through a combination of hands-on treatments and targeted exercises to bolster muscular support and overall fitness levels.

Wellness in Motion also advocates for a proactive approach to health, challenging the cultural acceptance of pain as an inevitable consequence of aging. We underscore the success we have seen with patients who have avoided knee or hip replacements through our AposHealth program, demonstrating that effective management can significantly enhance quality of life without resorting to risky procedures.

Our commitment to improving our patients health span versus just lifespan aligns with our analogy of a glider flight. For a long flight with a smooth landing it’s important to get the glider i.e. your health as high as possible. We emphasise the importance of investing in health to prolong active and fulfilling years. We encourage patients not to resign themselves to restricted lifestyles due to musculoskeletal issues but instead to engage actively in their own rehabilitation, thereby reclaiming activities and social interactions that bring joy and fulfilment.

Wellness in Motion distinguishes itself by championing a hands-on, personalised approach to physiotherapy that prioritises patient empowerment, functional improvement, and long-term health outcomes over quick-fix solutions or invasive interventions. Our dedication to breaking cycles of pain and promoting active aging underscores our commitment to holistic patient care and well-being.

Who Does Wellness In Motion Help?

At Wellness in Motion we treat patients of all ages and abilities. What unifies our patients is a desire to keep active and get back to doing the activities they value whether that’s being able to run around after the grandchildren or complete an Ironman triathlon and everything in-between! We have links with top London surgeons across all specialities and we see lots of post-operative cases of knee replacements, hip replacements, ACL reconstructions and shoulder arthroscopies. We treat lots of runners and cyclists and triathletes who are struggling to manage large training volumes. We see lot of patients with neck and back problems or upper limb disorders which are all endemic in modern life due to sedentary jobs. We help patients develop the necessary resilience to be able to cope with the physical demands that unnatural activities such as prolonged sitting place upon the body. Wellness in Motion is at the vanguard of recognising the links between neurodivergence, hypermobility and unresolved musculoskeletal pain and helping this poorly understood sub-group of patients function better.

Can You Relate With These Feelings?

Thought the pain would go away on it’s own - but it didn’t!

Paid several visits to the Doctor, only to be told to “rest” and “take some painkillers” - then weeks later go back to see the Doctor again, only to be prescribed MORE rest, and an even stronger dose of painkillers

Been put on a month long waiting list after being referred to see an NHS Physio, then when after waiting so long to be seen - were given a sheet of exercises, which did nothing to ease the pain quick, if at all

Tried a few YouTube exercises, but those exercises either didn’t do a thing or aggravated the pain making it 10 times worse

Thought it would be a good idea to rest because the pain was so bad, but all that did was make the area even more stiff and tight

Been told by a family member or friend that “everybody gets aches and pains as they get older” - making it easy to accept it’s “just a part of life”
